1840 Square baler

If your customers judge hay by how the bale looks, stacks, and handles, the Hesston 1840 is the baler to own. Its in-line design follows directly behind the tractor, so crop flows straight from the pickup into the bale chamber. The result is straight, dense, square-cornered 14" x 18" bales with consistent flakes. You won't get flimsy, banana-shaped bales that fall apart when they're picked up.  With a 100-stroke-per-minute plunger, a hydraulic density system, and a pre-compression chamber, the 1840 is built for the horse-hay producer, the commercial small-square seller, and the livestock owner who wants to get in and out of the field fast.

Key Features

 In-Line Design

  • Offset balers pull crop in from the side and twist it on the way to the chamber. The 1840 runs directly behind the tractor, so crop travels in a straight line from pickup to stuffer to bale chamber. That straight path is what produces straight, uniform, square-cornered bales that stack tight on the wagon and in the barn.

100 Strokes Per Minute

  • The industry-leading plunger speed packs more flakes into every bale and more bales into every hour. You finish the field sooner, before the dew comes up or the storm rolls in.

Pre-Compression Chamber

  • Each charge is pre-formed before it reaches the plunger. You get consistent flake size, even density from end to end, and a better-looking bale in any crop.

Hydraulic Bale Density: Set It and Forget It

  • The self-contained hydraulic density system holds bale weight and dimensions steady as hay moisture changes from morning to afternoon. You don't have to keep climbing off the tractor to crank tension.

Heavy-Duty Pickup

  • The pickup has 42 double tines on four rows of teeth to feed heavy windrows and uneven crops cleanly. Hydraulic lift and lower make headland turns and transport simple.
