1745D Round baler

You don't need a big tractor to put up big-league hay. The Hesston 1745D is a commercial-quality 4' x 5' round baler engineered for the producer running a 40 horsepower tractor. It runs on as little as 40 PTO HP, one hydraulic remote, and a 12-volt plug, and it makes dense, square-shouldered bales that stack, store, and feed like they came off a machine twice the price.  Designed, engineered, and built in Hesston, Kansas, by the factory that pioneered the big baler in the 1970s.

Less Time Fixing. More Time Baling.

Legendary Hesston Drive System

  • Simple chain drives and hydraulic belt tension deliver long-lasting performance with lower operating costs.

Only Five Drive Chains

  • Fewer chains mean fewer things to adjust, lube, and replace, so you spend your evening in the house instead of the shop.

Staggered Belts for Trash Clean-Out

  •   Staggered belts and few trash collection points keep the baler clean and running longer between stops.

Easy Tractor Match

  • Minimum requirements are 40 PTO HP, one hydraulic remote, and a 12-volt power supply. Most utility tractors, including the Massey Ferguson models we sell, can run this baler out of the box.

Key Features

Dual-Cylinder Density System

  • Two hydraulic cylinders keep constant, even pressure on the density arms from core to finish. The result is tight, uniform bales that hold their shape in storage and shed weather better in the field.

Drop-and-Go, Standard

  • The clutchless design stops the belts while the bale unloads, so there's no need to shut off the PTO for every bale. Open the gate, drop the bale, close the gate, and keep baling.

Open-Throat Feeding

  • An open-throat design and a single feed-assist roller start the bale core turning the moment crop enters the chamber. You get strong throughput, a solid core, and fewer plugging headaches.

Wedge-Grip Forming Belts

  • Wedge-grip belts grab the crop and roll it consistently, even in light or uneven windrows.

Commercial-Grade Mesh Wrap Option

  •   Twine tie comes standard. The optional mesh wrap is the same system used on Hesston's 2900 Series commercial balers. It loads easily and applies an even, tight wrap every time. Mesh wraps faster than twine and helps bales keep their shape and shed water.

Automatic Wrap Control

  • The simple in-cab control box applies twine or mesh to each bale automatically, with no guesswork and no complicated menus.
